Maternity Support Worker

The role of the Maternity Support Worker is to work in partnership with the Midwife providing practical, social and emotional support to mothers and their families.
The post holder will be required to undertake baseline observations, phlebotomy, and breastfeeding support as well as providing both clinical and clerical support within the department (hospital or community).
They will also provide health advice and information to mothers to support care of the mother and the newborn baby.

We are looking for a Maternity Support Worker to join Antenatal Clinic, River Team. This is a Full-time role, working over a 5 day week (exclude BH).
You must be proficient in phlebotomy, undertaking observations such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature.
You will need to demonstrate you have been trained to provide breastfeeding advice in line with the Baby Friendly Initiative.
In-house mandatory updates is provided on an annual basis to help develop skills in looking after maternity patients with particular attention to their specific needs in pregnancy.
You will work within the clinic to support the midwives and multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth day to day running.

- Provide excellent customer care skills to ensure patients come first.
- Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties to deliver agreed plans of care, acting on own initiative.
- Infection control Audit, breastfeeding Audit, Stock ordered, stocking clinic rooms & Antenatal Classes input.
- To provide health education advice and information on nutrition, exercise, smoking cessation and assistance and encouragement with breastfeeding associated with the wellbeing of the mother and child.
- Maintain a clean environment within the clinic rooms
- Provides support and assistance to professionals in the implementation of plans of care for individual patients.
- Assist with the day to day running of the antenatal clinic.
- As directed to collect specimens from patients and to record routine observations of weight, Height, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate.
