- To assess, prescribe, issue, and instruct patients in the safe use of a variety of equipment including a range of functional aids, manual handling aids and mobility equipment.
- To undertake assessment of need for postural support/seating and work closely with wheelchair services and specialist seating services.
- To undertake specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment as an autonomous practitioner.

- To assess, diagnose and develop individual care/treatment plans for a range of conditions, some of which will be highly complex or will be for patients with complex clinical and social needs, and to be responsible for reassessing patients care as treatment progress and alter treatment programme as appropriate. To evaluate and develop treatment programmes.
- To advise and teach patients, carers and other professionals to participate in occupational therapy and intervention plans for the individuals.
- To ensure a high standard of clinical and professional practice.
- To undertake specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment as an autonomous practitioner.
- Degree / Diploma Occupational therapy
- Health Care Professionals Council Registration
- Evidence of relevant post graduate experience
- Membership of special interest group
- Master's degree (MSc) in relevant subject
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Good problem solving abilities
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team including working across professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of inter-agency working and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team
- Ability to maintain judgement under pressure
- Empathetic and friendly.
- An understanding of providing services to a diverse patient population in the community
- Ability to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service i.e. extended hours and weekends
- Ability to travel across the Trust to fulfil the requirements of the post. (Car owner/driver)
- NHS Experience
- Experience to include some of the following clinical areas: acute in-patients, community, medical, surgical, orthopaedic, neurology, care of older persons, vocational rehabilitation
- Experience of clinical audit and service evaluation
- Experience of clinical supervision and teaching of staff and students
- Experience of performance management and appraisal
