The Role:


The main purpose of the role will be to learn all aspects of the effective running of a parts department, supporting the Parts Supervisor as required.

You will play a key role in the control of stock, with a significant part of your role to liaise with internal and external stakeholders providing a professional service in all aspects of a parts department function.


Remuneration & Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with 30minute unpaid break
  • Work Saturday mornings on an agreed rota (paid as overtime)
  • Core hours worked between
- £6.28 per hour

  • 28 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays

Key Responsibilities:
Main Duties

  • An appropriate apprenticeship qualification to be agreed, i.e., customer service, business administration.
  • Provide prompt and courteous counter service for personnel calling in at the stores to collect items
  • Respond to telephone calls in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Issue parts to the workshop technicians, ensuring all paperwork is signed off correctly
  • Ordering of parts as and when required
  • Pick and pack orders ready for delivery to customers
  • Updating supervisor with the pending parts status
  • To ensure good inward process are followed and executed correctly, including but not limited to
  • Ensure all parts are logged correctly
  • Check and receipt of deliveries to the parts department
  • Accurately receipt parts into stock from advice notes and invoices.
  • To participate and support with stock control processes, ensuring stock is accurately and appropriately stored, with full traceability.
  • To promote best practice in maintaining high levels of Customer Service
  • You must comply with all health and safety rules and regulations regarding the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
  • Report any health and safety issue including accidents to self.
  • Follow all site rules.
  • You must comply with all relevant legislation.
  • Undertake such other duties that are required from time to time commensurate with this position.
  • Promote Wm. Armstrong in line with current company values, beliefs and branding.
  • Skills/Knowledge


Good GCSE Grades
  • Dependent on grades may depend on L2 or L3 Apprenticeship
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional telephone manner when dealing with internal colleagues and external suppliers.
  • Selfmotivated and able to work without close supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good numerical and analytical skills, including experience of spreadsheets and computerbased systems, including Microsoft products.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft packages (Excel, Word, Outlook)
