General Operative

To ensure quality engineering of components using relevant procedures and methods. Ensure health and safety in the workplace. To provide training where necessary.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report to Die Plant team leader and Die Plant Manager
  • Supervise trainees and apprentices
  • Adhere to and encourage health and safety methods and procedures
  • Inspection for all components throughout the process
  • Support Die Plant Manager in continuous improvement
  • Make sure all heat treatment areas are tidy and organised
  • To work as efficiently as possible
  • Forklift truck driving (if licensed)
  • Crane driving
  • Provide training and help to train
  • Cleaning, tidying and improving the state of the department
  • Overtime
  • Lorry loading / unloading
  • Operate machinery in the heat treatment area (chargers)
  • Work in conjunction with other heat treatment operatives to maximise productivity
  • Help plan furnace loads to minimise gas usage
  • Collect work from forging areas and load in heat treatment
  • Work as a team with saws operators
  • Regularly check furnace charts
  • Daily furnace inspection
  • Check hardness results on Brinell Machine

£11.44 per hour
