CLINICAL FELLOW (ST3+ Equivalent) in PAEDIATRIC SURGERY

We are looking for Clinical Fellows to fill a 2-month position starting from August 2024 until October 2024. The role offers exposure to a dynamic academic program and mirrors the training structure for SpR (StR) despite lacking educational endorsement.

Main Duties of the Job

Key Responsibilities

This role offers comprehensive exposure to the care of pediatric patients, including newborns, requiring specialized surgical interventions. The incumbent will partake in a 1 in 8 on-call schedule to handle emergencies, manage inpatient care during off-hours, oversee ward patients, and participate in outpatient clinics and surgical procedures. The work of our registrars is closely supervised by departmental consultants.

Skills and AbilitiesEssential Criteria
  • Ability to assess and treat common pediatric surgical conditions

Education, Training, and QualificationsEssential Criteria
  • Primary medical qualification - MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration with Licence to Practice or IELTS Certificate with an overall score of at least '7' in each domain or Occupational English Test (medicine version) with a minimum score of 'B' in each domain
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • IELTS (if visa sponsorship is needed)

  • Child protection training
  • Completion of APLS or equivalent resuscitation course
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential Criteria
  • Prior Registrar level exposure in pediatric surgery (minimum 1 year)
  • Completion of core surgical training or equivalent

  • FRCS in pediatric surgery or equivalent
