Main responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and participate at drop ins, detached youth work, mobile youth work, meetings, assemblies, activities and 1-2-1's in order to support young people, including evening and weekend sessions where required
  • Ensure that youth work activities are safe, and all young people are treated with respect, where differences are valued and acceptance and understanding of others is promoted.
  • Provide individual support, mentorship and coaching, which sets appropriate goals to address the individual's needs.
  • Work directly with individuals or small groups to facilitate personal, social, education and political development, which addresses their needs and supports them to develop the skills and confidence to make decisions and act on issues that affect their own lives, the lives of others, their communities and society.
  • Through one-to-one and group work empower young people to establishing goals, overcome challenges and signpost to other agencies who can offer additional support where required.
  • Organise and/or participate in community-based projects which provide young people with avenues to express themselves, raise concerns and discuss their aspirations.
  • Ensuring that young people are partners and leaders, helping them gain influence over issues they are concerned about, including the vision, management, and delivery of youth work.
  • Being the point of contact for local young people, referral partners and Parents/Guardians and other support agencies.
  • Keep internal systems up to date daily including the VIEWS system to record customer journey alongside other data entry required as part of the role.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the local area, including networking with local organisations, business, and community contacts in your area.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety and Safeguarding guidelines and ensure these are prioritised as part of the planning and delivery of sessions.
  • Work alongside other Inspire teams to support delivery and aid recruitment for programmes if needed.
  • Continually build knowledge of external courses, programmes, and agencies to aid your knowledge of signposting opportunities.
