To support recent growth and new business, we are now looking for a GIS Software Engineer to join our existing sprint teams to boost our ability to deliver exciting new greenfield technology development. Sprint rotations will ensure you also have the opportunity to deliver against the product roadmap and respond to live fix issues and change requests.

We pride ourselves on delivering world class solutions to our clients and rely on our autonomous and cross-functional Development team to utilise a modern technology stack to build our PlotBox platform, an industry leading solution comprising of Web, Mobile and Native applications.

Working on the Development team, you will have a varied job, delivering product enhancements in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will be given responsibility to design and deliver core modules and features of the system. You get to contribute and make a real difference.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for delivering pre-agreed activities within each sprint which include:

  • Develop high-quality, maintainable software using object-oriented programming languages such as Java, PHP, or C#.
  • Work with mapping technology to build out best in class mapping visualisations.
  • Build and consume modern REST APIs, focusing on efficient and secure data exchange.
  • Utilize relational database skills for effective data management, including querying and configuration.
  • Guide and mentor junior developers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, actively engaging in problem-solving and project planning.
  • Gradually build a strong working knowledge of the PlotBox Product.
Who we think will be a great fit

ESSENTIAL:

You will have:

  • A minimum 4 years of relevant experience in software development.
  • At least 2 years of experience in object-oriented programming (Java, PHP, or C#).
  • Experience working with mapping software such as ESRI, Google Maps, Leaflet, or similar.
  • Understanding of geospatial technology and theory.
  • Strong skills in building and consuming modern REST APIs.
  • Solid experience in relational database management.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to work from the Head Office at least 2 days per week.
  • Experience with Jira Management, Bitbucket, and Developer Tooling.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

DESIRABLE:

It's not a deal breaker, but ideally you will have some:

  • Experience with Azure.
  • Knowledge of or experience with drone hardware/software platforms (a plus, but not essential).
