Job summary

Are you a Non-Medical Prescriber looking to work in a supportive and established team? We want you to join our Poole CAMHS and Bournemouth & Christchurch CAMHS, working in a split-post across both sites with the expectation to work on-site within both teams.

The Poole CAMHS and Bournemouth & Christchurch CAMHS team is a multi-disciplinary team that works with children and young people aged years. There are professionals from a range of backgrounds in the team, including Psychiatry, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work and CBT/IPT-A therapists. We are looking for a Non-Medical Prescriber who has post registration training/qualification in Independent and Supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing and enjoys being a part of a multi-disciplinary team. Having experience of working in a CAMHS setting would be advantageous although not essential as supervision/support for those from Adult Mental Health background will be given. Being committed to delivering high quality services for children, young people and their families is essential.

The Non-Medical Prescriber post is a permanent part time role, for hours per week. We can be flexible with how these hours are met and this can be discussed further at interview stage.

Main duties of the job

To independently prescribe medication for the treatment of mental illness and associated symptoms.

To provide advice to clinicians in General practice and other areas of practice, when required, on the management of mental health problems, including the prescription of medication.

To play a lead role in the provision of high quality clinical care and the maintenance of high professional standards in the locality.

To undertake the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for individuals experiencing serious mental health problems who are referred to CAMHS

To act as care coordinator to a defined group of patients

The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Knowledge, skills and training

Essential

Current registration with appropriate professional body, NMC / HCPC / UKCP Core professional qualifications as Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Applied Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or equivalent. Demonstrable experience of working with young people their families and carers Demonstrates an in depth understanding of risk assessment and management Experience of carrying out independent assessments in Mental health, developing psychiatric formulation and planning treatment options Ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessment and implement risk management plans Experience of working in mental health services where multi- disciplinary working was embraced as part of service delivery Ability to plan, organise and prioritise own workload and support other staff in the same Excellent communication skills, report writing Independent Non-Medical Prescriber on NMC Register Demonstrable experience in Supplementary Prescribing including portfolio evidence of reflective practice and CPD Knowledge of recent developments and drug advances in psychiatry Completion of non-medical Prescribing (V300) course Demonstrated ability to plan and organise complex activities requiring the formulation and adjustment of clinical plans Experience of providing one or more recognised psychological approach Demonstrated ability to analyse situations and provide a resolution Demonstrated ability to plan and organise complex activities requiring the formulation and adjustment of clinical plans Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act & Mental Capacity Act
