Job summary

Kingston GP Chambers the GP federation which supports twenty member GP practices across the borough of Kingston are delighted to be supporting Brunswick Surgery in the recruitment of a new GP receptionist.

Brunswick are a forward thinking and progressive surgery with a well-established and talented workforce. The surgery was inspected in December 2022 and subsequently reviewed in July 2023 having achieved a good rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The practice work hard to ensure an excellent level of patient care is delivered to almost 9,000 registered patients.

The surgery is based in the modern and purpose built Surbiton Health Centre, which is well served by local transport links and has the local high street in close proximity.

The post-holder will be required to work 1pm - Monday - Friday .

The anticipated start date for this role is Monday 10th June

Main duties of the job

Duties:

Greet all patients on arrival ensuring that they are booked in. Answer the telephone, dealing with or redirecting to relevant person all enquires, making appointments and recording any information required when necessary. Handle requests for home visits using practice policy. Register new patients following practice process. Flexibility within the reception staff rota when required to cover colleagues holiday or sick leave.

Administration Duties:

Open mail and distribute as appropriate, leaving Private & Confidential to be opened by addressee or Practice Manager. Print off patient summary for any home visit if required. Prepare and produce repeat prescriptions in line with practice policy and hand to the doctor on duty to sign and verify. Scan medical records, hospital reports and letters. Collate medical records received from Health Authority and set aside for summarising. Extract medical record and print any attachments from the clinical system for deducted patients, and return to the Health authority. Book interpreters to attend consultations when requested. Ensure that Temporary Service forms are completed and filed until due for submission to the Health authority. Recall patients as deemed necessary. Maintain computer database. Arrange transport for hospital appointments when appropriate. Maintain stationary supplies in reception areas. Ensure that correspondence is mailed out as necessary

Kingston GP Chambers is a Federation of all NHS General Practices within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. It was founded in 2008 as a limited company whose shareholders are all 20 GP Practices within Kingston. The company is led by a Board of Directors who are also GP Partners in their own Practices within Kingston.

Kingston GP Chambers has worked collaboratively with both secondary care and the private sector. At present we provide community clinics for Dermatology, Urology, Neurology, Dementia and Diabetes.

In addition, Kingston GP Chambers are at the forefront of improving patient access to primary care. We deliver a comprehensive extended hours service offering GP appointments across three hubs in the evenings Monday to Friday, over the weekend and on Bank Holidays. Kingston GP Chambers has the ability to respond rapidly, and we have continued to demonstrate the capability to provide high-quality, innovative and timely solutions to improving patient care and experience. We work closely alongside the other GP Federations in Southwest London to continue the government's five-year forward plan and deliver patient services in the community.

We aim to continue to grow as we are increasingly recognised as the provider of choice for extended, enhanced and urgent GP services.

We also expect an increasing role as we support, reinforce and develop the position of general practice as the core building block for an increasing range of jointly-provided services.

Job responsibilities

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of receptionist and administrative duties and the provision of administrative support to the multidisciplinary team.

Kingston GP Chambers are looking to recruit a Receptionist to enhance the talented team . The successful candidate will provide a high-quality administrative service to patients, doctors and colleagues, acting as the first point of contact for patients. The candidate must also be flexible to cover other shifts, hard-working and enjoy being part of a team. The successful candidate will need excellent interpersonal and telephone skills, with the ability to multi-task whist staying organised.

Learning and Development

Staff will also be permitted (subject toapproval) to undertake external training courses which will enhance theirknowledge and skills, progress their career and ultimately, enable them toimprove processes and service delivery.
