An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Psychologist to join our team at the Lyme Brook Community Mental Health Centre in Stoke-on-Trent. Through the community transformation project, we are implementing innovative pathways to revolutionise the way community services are delivered. It's an exciting time to join us and be part of developing clinical pathways which improve access to evidence-based interventions for a range of mental health difficulties. We are looking for a team member who thrives on MDT working and has an interest in working with service users who have complex needs.

The successful applicant will have opportunity to access to model specific supervision groups, as well as supervision from a principal psychologist within the team. This post is part of a supportive and friendly CMHT, as well as a wider Psychology team providing a great environment for professional development. This role will be pivotal in developing the skills and confidence of non-psychology colleagues in offering psychologically informed interventions both within groups and individual sessions. There are lots of opportunities to engage in service development to shape the pathway and the interface with other teams and agencies.

Main duties of the job To support the development and delivery of clinical pathways with service users who experience a range of complex mental health problems also work with other complex mental health presentations within the CMHT.

To work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team offering advice, joint working and supervision of psychology and non-psychology colleagues who contribute to the pathway. Much of this work will be within the team informing the best service delivery for our service users.

Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist psychological care to service users with highly complex mental health conditions which may include challenging behaviours.

To undertake formal research as an integral part of the job and act as field supervisor to doctorate trainees.

To promote at all times a positive image of the service and the wider Trust. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • HCPC registration as a clinical/counselling practitioner psychologist
Knowledge Essential
  • Doctoral level knowledge of evidence-based practice relevant to the role
  • Risk assessment and risk management
Experience Essential
  • Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings.
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator within the context of a multidisciplinary team.
