Milton Keynes, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom MacIntyre Full time

Would you appreciate a job where your impact lasts long after your shift ends? Want to make a real difference to people's lives? Look no further than award-winning MacIntyre for a fulfilling career in adult social care.

We are looking for full and part-time support workers to join our Lifelong Learning provision in Milton Keynes, based in three sites across the area.

We provide support in the three sites but also out and about in the community as well.

About the service

Our Lifelong Learning provision offers a variety of activities and opportunities for adults with a learning disability and/or autism to gain new skills, have new experiences and develop their independence.

Activities you would be involved in as a Support Worker include supported employment, arts and crafts, sports and healthy lifestyles, cookery, drama, music, dance, and horticulture; the list is endless

Our ultimate goal is to ensure every individual has a seamless transition between their support at home and their daytime activities, facilitating and developing the skills gained from both settings.

Whether it's by improving communication, maximising independence or encouraging participation, the support we provide is centred around celebrating each individual's gifts, talents and contributions.

As we develop our service, you could use your skills/interests to introduce new activities and groups for the people we support to participate in.

No day is the same in Lifelong Learning.

You could be supporting our weekly sports group where Tony, John, Debra and a group of the people we support travel off site to exercise and enjoy some physical activities.

You could be working independently with Brian whom we support to go swimming and to join our golf group.

You could be working with some of our team to tend the garden at one of our sites along with Josh, a gentleman we support who loves cutting the grass whilst Susan and William water the vegetables we are growing.

Above all we value each person as an individual and try to ensure they receive a service that makes sense to them.

About the role

You will play a key role in keeping the people we support motivated, active and happy by supporting them to engage in a variety of exciting and different sessions.

This includes working in partnership with outside organisations in order to share and celebrate the talents and skills of the people we support.

We are proud of the collaborations we have already developed in our local communities but we are striving to make more meaningful connections across Milton Keynes.

You will join a staff team with the necessary skills and experience to support adults of all ages with a learning disability and/or autism.

At times, you may provide assistance with personal care and/or administering medication and we will provide you with full training and specialist support so that you are well prepared on how best to approach each situation.

You could be leading small groups or working on a 1:1 basis with some of the people we support either at one of our three sites or at other facilities that we use within the local communities.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about supporting others; expressing new and creative ideas and who has a kind and caring nature.

Experience isn't necessary. Often people join us from the hospitality or retail sectors and find their skills adapt well.

As long as you have the passion and drive to make a real difference, we will teach you the rest.

You will need to have a flexible approach to the work environment and hours, as weekend and evening working will be expected.

We have a range of opportunities available:
including full-time, part-time or relief contracts, so we're bound to have something for you.

About us
MacIntyre is a national charity which supports over 1,200 people with a learning disability and/or autism.

We were founded in 1966 by the visionary parent of a child with disabilities and have been growing steadily ever since.

We celebrate and develop everyone's unique gifts, talents and contributions.

Training and Development
At Macintyre we fully support your training and development.

We know it can be daunting to start a new job, and not everyone learns the same way, so throughout your probation we will provide you with a mixture of eLearning, face-to-face training and mentoring support whilst on the job.

But it doesn't stop there - throughout your career with us you will have access to our own dedicated in house Learning and Development team, Quality Specialists and HR Teams.

These teams, along with your Manager, will provide you with opportunities to learn and develop professionally as well as enabling and supporting you to achieve professional qualifications and career progression opportunities - all free of charge.

Pay and Rewards
We provide a range of benefits to reward and thank our staff which includes:

  • Six weeks' annual leave including statutory public holidays
-
