The post holder will be accountable for collating data required to: Understand implementation of the Faster Diagnosis Best Practice Pathways in line with national data requirements Support other RM Partners programme to deadline including; audits for the Treatment Variation programme, inequalities metrics, RDC NSS minimum dataset and other ad-hoc requests.

Strategy & Transformation To develop and deliver plans to improve compliance in staging and personalised care COSD data items across the Trust and by speciality, as required.

This can incorporate a wide range of activities including; digital developments to Cancer Information Management systems, improving collection processes and/or training of clinical/operational staff.

Build strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders such as clinical and general management leaders through effective communication and service delivery to deliver data collection requirements.


Provide information on current compliance, areas of focus and new processes in a form in which it can be understood and acted upon by operational and clinical leads.

Data Quality Gain understanding on how cancer data flows throughout the Trust To support management and operational staff with information and advice to resolve data quality issues.

To be actively involved in the specification and design of reports that measure data quality and highlight data quality issues, relating to the divisional clinical activity, including any bespoke information systems managed with the division.

Proactively identify areas where data quality adversely impacts the Trusts data compliance and manual audits, and to liaise with the Data Quality team to ensure improvements.

This may involve working with service managers and other Trust staff to resolve issues.

Maintaining an awareness of data quality issues highlighted by any analyses, and to work with the Trust Data Quality leads to ensure an on-going emphasis and improvement in Data Quality.

Information To gain & maintain full working knowledge of NHSE/ NHS digital information requirements and technical guidance (most notably CWT and COSD).

To gain & maintain full working knowledge of the Trust's information systems (SQL, QlikView, QlikSense), ensuring at all times that any changes which may impact on specific analyses are incorporated.


To gain and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Trusts data collection processes and understanding how these can be improved.

To develop a full working knowledge of in-house programming techniques needed for data extraction. Identify root cause of delivery issues (e.g., system configuration, manual processes, patterns in workflows, repeat calls etc.).

To liaise with Trust information users to understand their role in increasing data completeness, and to evaluate and advise them on an appropriate analysis.

To gain a full understanding of cancer pathways from referral to diagnosis, treatment and personalised care. To liaise regularly with the RM Partners Information Team and other RM Partners project managers as required. To attend regular meetings with RM Partners to update on progress against key objectives.

To extract, manipulate, analyse, interpret and present information for all levels of Trust staff, using the most appropriate specialist methodology.


To support the submission of statutory returns to NHS England and other external bodies as required, ensuring that all deadlines are met.

Management Responsibilities Support the delivery of strategic service transformation projects within the sector which need to provide in-depth intelligence to inform decision making, business planning, and the measurement of improvement in performance and quality.

Foster a culture of customer service by working closely with the decision-support function, responding effectively to the needs of the organisation and pro-actively seeking to add value to the organisation through information analyses, tools and methods.

Foster close working relations with departments such as ICT in developing and maintaining quality information and information reporting systems.


Review and contribute to the development of Information Management and Data Quality policies and procedures to meet the needs of the Trust.
