As the Access Capabilities Lead you will be focused on ensuring our access colleagues have the awareness, knowledge and competencies to provide effective solutions for the growing payer and access challenges of managing costs while trying to improve patient outcomes now and in the future.


Reporting to the Head of Access Strategy & Payer Policy you will demonstrate your strong understanding of market access to work with internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to coordinate the design of industry leading access capability programmes.

By relying on your passion for learning and development you will also collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop a robust access capability framework and lead the implementation of access skill interventions through multi-modal approaches of Education, Experience and Exposure at both global and local levels.


Working closely with the GMAP leadership team, cross-functional skill and capability teams and HR Business Partners you will be responsible for identifying current skill gaps and the development of comprehensive training programmes and learning experiences to optimise global and market team delivery of our ambition.

A core focus will be to implement our current capability platforms, as well as investigate new tools and frameworks to improve GMAP efficiencies in delivering materials and payer workshops, standardise best practice, and ensure training sustainability for the future.


The GMAP team is committed to providing high quality tools and materials for local (country level) market access teams to adapt and utilise within their markets.

As such, you will support the GMAP teams build and implement industry-leading capabilities within local market access teams.

Your role will also explore mechanisms and approaches to best share our resources and training to as wider reach as possible, globally.


In addition to upskilling and retaining current GMAP talent, you will support the leadership team in facilitating initiatives to attract and develop new talent into the GMAP organisation.

A key part of your role will also be to support the implementation of communication mechanisms to upskill the wider organization on payer environments and requirements and enable the upskilling of enterprise-wide negotiations capabilities and tools.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with crossfunctional leaders to identify current and emerging market access capabilities gaps required for successful market access for AstraZeneca's future portfolio
  • Develop and implement a proficiency framework to identify access capability gaps across global and local teams stratified by role/field and use it to track and measure training progress and impact
  • Define a sustainable, industry leading capability development programme to compliment the competency framework for the Global Market Access and Pricing function. This will include, but is not limited to negotiation training, IVS training, pricing training, and generating a host capabilities platform to ensure future sustainability.
  • Partner with SME's to develop and refresh access learning modules and deliverables that address areas of focus within the development programme
  • Act as point of contact with crossfunctional learning and development partners across the business to share standard methodologies and identify commonalities.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field Life Sciences, Business, Marketing, etc.
  • Validated experience in training and capability development
  • Experience in Pricing and Market Access methodologies and systems
  • Proven ability to influence across function and level
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • High standards of competence relating to IT systems and technology
  • Strong workshop leadership and facilitation skills
  • Ability to develop strategy and build and implement actions plans to complete
