As a Pattern Cutter on the COS Womenswear team you create and secure the intended fit and quality for our customer by creating detailed and accurate patterns that deliver the design vision.


What you will do:

  • Work closely with Design, Buying and Production teams to deliver finished patterns through manual pattern cutting, digital pattern cutting and 3D prototyping.
  • Create mockups and toiles where needed and discuss amendments with Design Team before publishing patterns.
  • Provide concise sample comments to Production Teams and Suppliers, following each style through every stage of development.
  • Collaborate with Production Teams located in the Far East and Turkey, conveying information clearly, providing feedback, and working seamlessly with international colleagues.
  • First point of contact with Production Teams and Suppliers, visiting when needed to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Own core styles, maintaining consistency and ensuring accurate pattern execution.
  • Lead fittings, guiding Buying and Design through workable fit solutions.
  • Work with company PLM systems, ensuring the M-Charts, Patterns and comments are up to date and filed in the correct places.
  • Ensure Measurement Charts are clear and follow pattern accurately, continually review and update if to create consistency across products.
  • Support and action grading adjustments, following input from Suppliers and Production Office.
  • Guide, involve and inspire Juniors Pattern Cutters and Assistant Pattern Cutters, sharing our ways of working.

  • Previous experience working as a pattern cutter with a focus on Womenswear (softs & jersey essential)
  • CAD experience essential, Lectra preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of garment construction and pattern cutting skills.
  • Confidence on making accurate patterns to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to identify problems and take responsibility to find solutions.
  • A proactive and assertive way of working.
  • Genuine interest and passion for Womenswear at COS.
  • An excellent eye for detail, shape and proportion.

This is a
full time temporary 12 month contract based at our Head Office in London.
