Cromwell Hospital, Kensington SW5 0TU - 5 mins walk from Earls Court underground, or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground

Full time, 37. 5 hours

Monday - Friday plus 1 Saturday per month (3 long shifts per week 8:00am-8:00pm)

Role Overview


You'll be working within our busy outpatient department alongside a Primary Care Nurse and a small team of GP's to ensure the highest standards of care for our patients and their families.


What you'll do:


Working as part of the larger outpatient department you will be assisting the GP's and Primary Care Nurse with day to day outpatient procedures.


  • Phlebotomy / Venepuncture
  • Provide high quality physical and psychological Care with Compassion
  • Confidently and safely Communicate patients care needs
  • Have the Courage to speak up and Commitment to be a patient advocate
  • Assist with collection and transportation of specimens
  • Escort patients for investigations
  • Prepare and oversee clinic rooms as delegated
  • Maintain up to date care records and observations charts
  • Refer patients, relatives and colleagues queries to the appropriate staff
  • Enter requests on the computer and assist the receptionist and nursing staff with any other clerical duties when required
  • Assist with collection and transportation of specimens
  • Escort patients for investigations
  • Prepare and oversee clinic rooms as delegated
  • Maintain up to date care records and observations charts
  • Refer patients, relatives and colleagues queries to the appropriate staff
  • Enter requests on the computer and assist the receptionist and nursing staff with any other clerical duties when required

Who we're looking for?
A skilled Healthcare Assistant fully competent in phlebotomy/venepuncture with previous experience within a hospital or outpatient environment. You'll be able to demonstrate your exceptional communication skills with patients, their families and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

  • NVQ Level 2 (Direct Patient Care) or equivalent/ Care Certificate
  • Venepuncture skills/Phlebotomy skills
  • BLS
  • Experience in primary care, community nursing or outpatient setting
  • Recognises priorities when problem solving and identifies deviations from the normal pattern and is able to refer to wider professionals or GPs when appropriate
