We're looking for a Technical Superintendent to support the 24/7 engineering operation from the Head office in London, with occasional travel to key suppliers and shipyards to provide technical input to the development


You will provide technical line management for a team of engineers supported by sub-contractors to maximise engineering productivity for planned and unplanned tasks in support of vessel operational demands.


Prioritising fleet defects that have been raised, you will delegate tasks ensuring engineering governance in the reporting and closure of engineering tasks.

These will be consistent with company reporting structure and our safety management system.


Ensuring the root cause of vessel defects are investigated thoroughly, you will implement long term solutions that are consistent with company structure.


Maintaining vessel readiness and performance in support of operational demand, you will monitor vessel condition as well as the ships staff compliance.


You will work with the team to ensure annual, intermediate and renewal dry-dockings are planned and scoped with appropriate resource to time, quality and cost.

We're looking for someone who is a practical engineer who has experience with technical vessel management. You'll also have experience with high speed vessel propulsion systems.

With relevant working experience managing statutory and classification requirements, you'll have a desire to improve current company working practices.


You'll be an effective communicator and able to provide a lead by example approach in a managerial role; able to work flexibly as the operation demands and be a team player who enjoys working in a high achieving environment.


An awareness of budget and expenditure constraints and the importance of on time, on budget project completion is also key.


We'll give you all the training you need regarding our systems as well as a thorough induction on how the operations at Uber Boat by Thames Clippers work, so you will be set up for success.

You'll be based on Trinity Buoy Wharf Pier, Poplar, London E14 0JY, a short walk from Canning Town tube or a hop across the river in our staff boat, from North Greenwich tube.
