South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust arerecruiting for a Specialty Doctor to join the Liaison team, based at PinderfieldsHospital, Dewsbury District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary. This role plays a vital part in ensuring ourpatients receive the mental health carethat they need, within the acute hospital setting.

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to join anenthusiastic team and help to shape the future of liaison services in our area.Our dedicated liaison team work together and with the wider teams across Wakefielddistrict and Dewsbury, to provide mental health services including self harmassessments, mental health act assessments and comprehensive mental healthassessments for patients admitted to acute wards and emergency departments.

The role will appeal to individuals who wish to work in aliaison team and to be involved in service development. This role will also be instrumental inproviding education and training to medical and non-medical colleagues.

Experience

Essential

Fully registered with the GMC and have a licence to practise or be in a position to have a licence to practice on commencement in the post. Spent a minimum of four years (full time or equivalent) in ST, specialty doctor or staff grade posts, in the UK or equivalent training. Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment (as joining a middle tier on-call rota).

Desirable

In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice. Experience in forensic psychiatry is desirable. Equivalent experience is acceptable, if appropriate competencies can be demonstrated and with agreement of the medical director. Experience working in other medical specialties including general medicine, geriatric medicine, and A&E.

Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning

Essential

Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training. Participate in continuous professional development. Participate in research or service evaluation. Able to use and appraise clinical evidence. Has actively participated in clinical audit.

Desirable

Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post. Reflect on purpose of CPD undertaken. Experience in clinical research and / or service evaluation. Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit, and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations, and publications. Has led clinical audits leading to service change.

Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential

Spent a minimum of four years (full time or equivalent) in postgraduate training in the UK or equivalent training. At least 6-month experience in adult psychiatry. Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment. (Service will support with this, in the time when post holder is not section 12 approved, the work will be carried out by consultants and external doctors as identified by approved mental health social workers). Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others. Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA. Able to provide clinical leadership to a multi-professional team and liaise with a wide variety of agencies.

Desirable

Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.

Qualifications

Essential

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable

Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management. MRCPsych. Additional clinical qualifications.
