Are you a University graduate looking for an exciting opportunity to jump-start your career in local government? Look no further As a Governance Law & Democracy Officer, you'll develop expertise in data, democracy and law, and become a catalyst for innovation and improvement.


As a member of the Operational Delivery team, you will gain exposure to a variety of local government functions, and valuable experience working with different areas of the division.

You will be working to deliver projects which transform the way the Council's statutory duties in the areas of data, democracy and law are discharged.


Alongside these core transformation projects you will have opportunities to gain more experience in other areas of the division, gaining expertise and experience in the variety of functions within Governance Law and Democracy, working on a variety of projects, including the 2025 Kent County Council elections.


Training and Development
In your role you will undertake a suitable qualification, as agreed with your line manager, via an apprenticeship.

To support your personal and professional development, there may be further training opportunities.

Previous post holders have received additional training in presentation skills, data protection and the use of different IT platforms to support them in their roles.


Location
This role will be based at Sessions House, Maidstone.


The team currently has a hybrid model of working with some days in the office and some days working from home.

You will be fully supported to do this, with the necessary induction, management, and equipment.

The successful applicant will have the choice of date to join us, depending on whether they are currently undertaking their degree or if they have already completed their degree.
