Job summary

We are recruiting a Senior Neurological Therapist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will be a Physiotherapist with a passion to provide care to patients with neurological deficits.

This role provides specialist therapy input and management to patients with a neurological diagnosis throughout the acute wards and stroke unit. We have ambition to expand the role to include community stroke rehab in partnership with our community colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the post include assessment and treatment of stroke and neurological patients within the wards, supervision and mentoring of non-qualified staff and students, taking part in in-service training, and taking a role in service improvement projects.

You will be contributing to the development of the stroke unit and neurological pathways through the hospital to ensure quality and equity of provision across all neurological diagnoses. You will primarily be based on the stroke unit with some outreach to other acute wards as needed.

You will have ability to travel independently across trust sites and be able to carry out weekend working.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy HCPC registration Evidence of Continuing Professional Development Knowledge of and adherence to Professional Body's Code of Conduct, Standards, Guidelines and Ethics

Desirable

Membership of appropriate special interest group Practice placement educator

Previous Experience

Essential

Previous relevant NHS post graduate experience Experience treating patients with Neurological impairments Experience of integrated working Experience of Multi Disciplinary Team working Evidence of clinical reasoning and prioritisation Knowledge and implementation of standardised assessment tools and outcome measures related to profession and core skills Knowledge of advanced anatomy and physiology related to clinical area Post qualification experience of working with patients within the acute care setting CPD related to working with people who have neurological impairment Experience of supervising junior members of staff/ occupational therapy students Experience of training/ development of others

Desirable

Experience of co-ordinating team workload Evidence of completion of Audit projects Experience of advanced skills in the complex assessment of activities of daily living Ability to carry out service development and improvement
