Location:

Keep Britain Tidy is looking to test an initiative to address the problem of kerbside recycling contamination - householders putting unwanted (non-recyclable) materials in recycling bins and recycling pods
- and thus improving the quality of materials collected for recycling.

To monitor the success of the intervention, each household included in the study will be visited two times prior to the intervention and then two times afterward a tailored communication.

During these two monitoring phases, each recycling bin will be visually inspected.

The team will look for non-recyclable items in the main body of the recycling such as card, food, black bags, nappies, hard plastic and cling film, and monitor the recycling pod and record observations in a survey.

This must take place once bins have been presented on collection day by residents in the early morning, but before the crew have emptied the bin into the truck.

As recycling bins are collected every other week in these areas, the work pattern for these roles will also be every other week.

Please closely review the working days outlined above before applying.

We appreciate that this is an unusual work pattern, and therefore if there are one or two shifts you know in advance that you would be unable to work, we would advise you to still apply.

The successful applicants will have an interest in the environmental and waste sectors, and the ability and willingness to undertake surveying work in an outdoor environment using handheld devices for data recording.

These positions will provide sought-after experience for those looking for a career in the environmental sector, especially the waste and recycling industry, and are paid at the National Living Wage.

In joining this project you also have the opportunity of joining our Bank of Casual Workers, through which further employment may be available at the end of this contract.

Full training will be provided at the start of the project.

If you need any reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process, you just need to let us know.

Video call interviews will take place on: No later than Thursday 20th July.

Generally, interviews take place via Microsoft Teams.

However, we understand that this is more challenging for some people so if you would prefer an in-person interview for any reason, please just let us know.

Please note:
