Fawkes & Reece South are working with a main contractor that works on highways and infrastructure projects on behalf of local authorities and public sector clients throughout Wales and Somerset.

They are seeking a Buyer to assist them in resourcing for materials & plant for a range of projects.

As a buyer, your role will be to maintain existing relationships with the supply chain whilst building new ones. You will work closely with a range of teams collaboratively to ensure that any projects are sufficiently resourced.

You will be involved in (but not limited to):

  • Developing and maintaining a robust database of existing suppliers
- ing suppliers to verify quotes

  • Working with the preconstruction, operational and commercial teams to devise a procurement strategy
  • Attending tender review meetings when possible
  • Attending prelet meetings for strategic packages where possible
Experience working as a Buyer or a Procurement Assistant

Previous experience working for a contractor in construction

Understanding of systems such as Causeway or COINS would be advantageous

Effective communication skills
