Duties:

  • Performs and/or assists in the operation and maintenance of indoor and/or outdoor recreational facilities.
  • Greets and directs visitors to the appropriate area, routes incoming telephone calls, and provides general information upon inquiry.
  • Types of duties include but are not limited to the following: opening and/or closing the Outdoor Recreation office, operation of the cash register, inventory control, receiving and stocking merchandise, preparing daily cash reports and bank deposits, and making reservations for facility programs.
  • Sets up recreation areas for scheduled activities; records attendance; takes reservations and payment for resale merchandise, trips and tours; notifies participants of schedule changes.
  • Maintains equipment and/or tools, charging them out to participants, checks them for condition on their return.
  • Ensures the indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and areas, tools, and equipment are secure.
  • Posts announcements of scheduled activities and answers inquiries about item, place, transportation, or other matters related to activities scheduled.
  • Maintains and conducts inventory of authorized recreation supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with group activities which require more than one staff monitor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifying Experience:
  • Progressively responsible experience of recreational activities, rules, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Access, and Excel).
  • Ability to safeguard and handle cash.
  • Skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable; however, no experience is required.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of suitability and fitness for the position.

Education:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
