Purpose of the Role:


The Community Officer at Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust is a dynamic and multifaceted role, primarily focused on enhancing community engagement through sports and physical activities.

This role is instrumental in creating, managing, and promoting sports programs that cater to various segments of the community, fostering a culture of health, inclusion, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Design and execute a diverse range of sports and health programs tailored to different age groups and abilities.
  • Oversee the scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation for all community sports activities.

Community Engagement and Outreach:

  • Conduct regular community needs assessments to tailor programs effectively.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with local educational institutions, community centres, and sports clubs.

Partnership Development and Stakeholder Management:

  • Identify and secure funding opportunities through grants, sponsorships, and collaborations.
  • Liaise with local authorities, businesses, and community leaders to garner support and resources.

Marketing, Promotion, and Public Relations:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy for community programs, including digital marketing and public relations.
  • Engage with local media to promote events and activities, enhancing the Trust's visibility.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Implement tools and methods for tracking program success, participant satisfaction, and community impact.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for Trust management and stakeholders.

Volunteer Recruitment and Management:

  • Develop a volunteer recruitment and management strategy.
  • Provide ongoing support, training, and appreciation events for volunteers.

Person Specification:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sports Management, Community Development, Public Health, or related fields.
  • Additional certifications in sports coaching, community engagement, or leadership are highly desirable.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement, sports management, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in program planning, execution, and evaluation.

Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership qualities with an emphasis on team building and motivation.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including social media platforms, MS Office Suite, and project management software.

Personal Characteristics:

  • A deep passion for sports and community welfare.
  • High level of empathy and sensitivity towards community needs.
  • Strong ethical standards and integrity.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and challenges.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A current DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
  • Local area knowledge and community connections are a plus.
