The postholder will work within a local Special Needs School supporting children with enteral feeding needs.

The postholder will also work within the Children's Community Nursing Team, visiting children in the community with a wide range of complex medical conditions, with the aim of providing respite and support for families and children.


The team provides a service to children and young people aged years and works across the 3 London Boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Westminster.

The team works closely with colleagues in Primary Care, hospitals, social services and education.

This post is for 37.5 hours per week, term time the post is worked 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday in a special school.

During school holidays the hours will be worked flexibly over 7 days a week, including weekends.

This post offers a great opportunity for carers to develop their clinical skills and have experience working in the community.

The organisation is supportive of training needs and there is an excellent mandatory training and education programme. You will also receive regular clinical supervision and safeguarding supervision.


You will need to be passionate about children, enjoy working as a team as well as being an autonomous practitioner.

Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is one of the largest community healthcare organisations in London and Hertfordshire, providing our services to diverse communities/boroughs in 11 London Boroughs - Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westminster - and Hertfordshire.


  • To work in conjunction with the Specialist School Nursing Team, children and their families, other care workers and school staff to ensure a holistic approach to the child's care.
  • Work effectively and flexibly under direct or indirect supervision to meet the child's individual needs during the school day and after initial training and assessment.
  • Assist with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care under the direct/indirect supervision of the Specialist School Nurse and senior care workers.
  • Ensure the safety of the child by monitoring and reporting all concerns and changes in their condition to the Special Schools Nurse.
  • Work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team according to the care plan under the guidance and delegation of the Special Schools Nurse and Senior Special Schools Health Care Assistant.
  • Demonstrate safe clinical care, adhering to relevant CLCH policies in relation to personal care for children and dealing with body fluids.
  • Respect the child and family's individual needs.
  • Understand age related play/developmental needs of the child.
  • Help promote and maintain a suitable environment in which the child feels safe and comfortable whilst promoting usual daily activities.
