Pattern Room Assistant

This is an excellent opportunity to take a first step into the manufacturing world and learn the skills of pattern cutting, sewing and producing articles of clothing.
Job Purpose for a Pattern Room Assistant:
To work in a close knit, small factory environment, supporting the Production process by printing, cutting & developing patterns for the manufacturing of Personal Protection clothing, for the medical industry to ISO regulations.
This position for a Pattern Room Assistant requires the ability to:- Trace and cut existing patterns onto card & paper
- Understand basic patterns, including sewing & construction
- Be able to understand written measurements & Size Charts, both metric & imperial.
- Understand how to measure patterns to a size chart
- To read instructions from a Job sheet for bespoke fittings
- Order bespoke patterns from our Parent company
- Learn to Plot patterns received from our Parent Company
- To cut & colour code all patterns during production preparation for sizes/Gender /Length etc.
- Building and maintaining a filing system of all patterns
- To replace paper patterns for production floor when required
- To mark all component positions on patterns by adding drill hole and notch positions
- To keep Pattern Room tidy and free from hazards
- Prioritise workload based on Production Schedule daily
- Cutting out the paper versions of patterns
- Assisting the Grader in cutting out Master card patterns
- Logging and maintaining documentation of all generic and custom patterns
- Assisting in maintaining Technical files on each style for Audit requirements.
- Ability to work on several orders simultaneously
- Possess an excellent understanding of the process & be results orientated
- Demonstrate good work ethics & communication skills, both written & verbal
- Must demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong teamwork relationships
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion
- Methodical & highly organised
- Would suit someone who has completed a Fashion course, ideally covering Pattern cutting/Grading/Garment technology.
- Ideal opportunity to gain some experience within a garment manufacturing environment and learn more about pattern cutting
- Sixmonth placement with a possible permanent position at the end of the term.
