Principal Duties

  • The safe operation of mobile plant
  • Processing and movement of materials
  • Assist with setting up and running of shredder and screening machines
  • Feed shredder and screening machines with material for process
  • Cleaning of work areas
  • Carrying out of daily checks in accordance with company procedures and site working plan
  • To cooperate with site management
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures as required
  • Work to the site critical control point plan
  • Work in a way that does not hinder the composting process
  • Work to timescales and deadlines
  • Learn the composting process and contribute to the success of the operation
You may at times be required to carry out duties not shown in the outline job description above.

Person Requirements

  • A demonstrable period of plant operating experience with a 360 excavator / loading shovel / forklift / telehandler
  • Recognised license or qualification to operate a 360 slew / loading shovel / forklift / telehandler
  • Experience of setting up screening or similar processing plant
  • Experience of feeding screening or similar processing plant
  • The ability to work in a team based environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to be involved in all aspects of the operation
  • Experience of working in an operation with quality health and safety systems
  • Predominantly working 4 nights per week but have the flexibility to work other site shifts when needed after having received a suitable notice period

In addition:

  • The right person for this role should be a team player but have the ability to work well unsupervised, manage their time effectively and be selfmotivated
  • Experience in the waste or utilities industries and a knowledge of waste industry practices would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of quality protocols would be an advantage, but full training in the site requirements will be given.
