About the role

We are a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world.

We create space for spirits to stir and be stirred.
We are seeking to recruit an experienced historic buildings professional for a unique and challenging role.

You will be working on a different palace every 3-6 months, taking on curatorial responsibilities from other members of the historic buildings team as they commit their time to completing on-going research projects.

You will work across all our palaces, helping to champion an understanding of each palaces history by setting standards for their conservation, presentation, and use.

Working closely with colleagues across HRP you will provide advice on the requirements of the law with regards to scheduled monuments and listed buildings, and make sure our work is informed by high quality research.

Representing HRP to the wider world and communicating its stories, you will also develop research into the palaces and their historic context.

You will identify the need for specialist external analysis and help commission and manage contractors.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and creative individual to become a key part of HRPs Curatorial team.


About you :


You will have experience of managing change in a heritage environment and bring expertise in one, or more, of the following areas: Architectural History, Archaeology, Historic Building Conservation, Early Modern History, Landscape/Garden History.

You will enjoy working within multi-disciplinary teams to find solutions to problems big and small. You will bring experience of building collaborative relationships with varied stakeholders and be a confident negotiator. You will be comfortable working on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.

You will be adaptable and feel confident in your ability to successfully take over ongoing projects at different stages of delivery.

Equally importantly, you will love history, and communicating your enthusiasm for the subject to a wide range of audiences. You will be a confident and engaging writer and public speaker.
