Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom Inter Marine UK Full time

Job Description:
HSEQ Officer (Romanian Speaker)

Introduction:

Intermarine UK is growing. We are looking for a Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Officer to support our operations in Glasgow, UK.

We are looking for an experienced HSEQ Officer who is fluent in English and Romanian.

Experience working across heavy manufacturing environments such as Shipbuilding, Ship Repair, Offshore Energy or Oil and Gas would be advantageous, but applicants from the Construction, Rail, and other infrastructure sectors are encouraged to apply.

Leadership:

As a key part of Intermarine UK, you will be part of the next generation of Shipbuilders in the UK.

You support the management of a team of 300+ shipbuilders across trades including Welding, Fabrication, Pipe fitting and other shipbuilding disciplines.

You will work alongside out existing team of Operational and Project Managers, Supervisors, and the Client's Project Team. You will report directly to the Intermarine UK HSEQ Manager.

Your work will support the internal audit function as well as providing on site translation support with our teams. As such, your work will be key to driving improvements and efficiencies across Intermarine UK.

Health & Safety:

You will be a key member of the team, helping to deliver Safety and Quality Critical information across our Team.

You will support us to review current approaches and documentation to ensure that we are adopting a 'best practice' approach across all our shipbuild activities.

You will spend time working with English speaking and non-English speaking tradespeople from around the world, collaborating with our existing international management team.

As such, you should recognise the unique cultural factors which contribute to effective HSEQ management in this context. You will support the dissemination of safety and quality critical information, particularly (although not exclusively) amongst our Romanian team. Written translation of toolbox talks, company communications and other key information packages will be required.

Quality:

You will have a sound understanding of the need for continuous improvements across all activities.

Capturing defects and improvement opportunities is central to this role, as is conducting root cause analysis and implementing subsequent process improvements.

You will champion a culture of openness and learning such that mistakes are not hidden, but rather viewed as an opportunities for improved performance.

This approach should be taken to all Intermarine UK activities. You will be key to making sure all of our activities are delivered safely and effectively.

Manufacturing Snags and other Defects will be captured via a cloud-based system which you will be trained to utilise.

Reporting:

Monthly reporting of HSEQ performance will be required.

You will work with the team to collect requisite data, so that valuable HSEQ trend analysis can be undertaken which will be used both internally and externally.

These dashboards will be used to highlight trends across the project, focusing future efforts to combat persistant issues as required.

You will support the reporting of any accidents and/or incidents to the HSE where necessary in an open and transparent manner.

You will bring a determined and diligent approach to your work, challenging established norms in a constructive way, advocating for efficiency wherever possible and highlighting improvement opportunities as they arise.

Project Team:
You will work in close collaboration with the rest of the Intermarine UK Management Team to realise your goals.

This will involve building a shared understanding with other project stakeholders of the need for high standards across HSEQ management.

You will work directly with the team of Production Supervisors (up to c.15) and the associated Blue-Collar resources (up to 300 tradespeople across a variety of shipbuilding disciplines).
