The post holder will be responsible for stock systems and controls to ensure Peacocks provides an exemplary stock management and replenishment service for Southampton Trust.


This will cover the stock management of 2 hospitals, which includes the servicing of an Appliance Office and Stock Room, as well as the replenishment of control and satellite stock locations in key departments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To build, develop and maintain relationships with our NHS Trust Clinics working together to provide an outstanding service and treatment to patients.
  • Ensure correct stock quantities in line with ordering trends.
  • Communicate frequently to all stakeholders to ensure that the procurement and stock management process is working effectively.
  • Manage stock reconciliation and subsequent stock adjustment.
  • Ensure that any changes in ordering patterns are communicated to the Procurement Team at Benfield and the Service Manager for Southampton.
  • Match the layout of the stock in various locations to the most frequently used items to maximises space utilisation.
  • Carry out regular stock counts and compare against MRP data to identify and report back to the Service Manager any anomalies.
  • Develop and implement a cycle count programme to drive stock accuracy.
  • In conjunction with an experienced Clinician, manage aged and obsolete stock and present suggestions in order to reduce levels.
  • Replenish stock in key departments ensuring minimum levels are maintained.
  • Receiving deliveries from suppliers and Head Office.
  • Taking inbound telephone calls from internal and external customers as well as patients.
  • Cover Appliance Offices at Millyard as and when required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Excellent understanding of stock systems and MRP.
  • Strong PC and systems skills.
  • Personable and outgoing with experience of proactively communicating internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Physically fit to enable the replenishment of key departmental satellite stock rooms around the hospital.
  • Ability to understand data and identify trends and anomalies.
  • Numerate and literacy skills
  • GSCE grade C or above in English and Maths.
  • Always maintains level of confidentiality.
