If you are a Registered Nurse with 2 years band 5 or above, interested in expanding your skills and are passionate in caring for patients, this could be the job for you

We are offering part-time and full-time positions as Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse for Outpatient 1,2,3,4 and Neurology and EMPCC, both based at the Leicester General Hospital.

The post will require supporting and leading an Outpatient team along with the Outpatient Sister, ensuring safe timely care to patients, working with the multidisciplinary team, managing staff sickness, appraisals, working in line with the trust vision and may other management duties. A flexible approach to working will be required, experience in Outpatients preferred but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for delivering high quality patient experience by clinic co-ordination of the outpatients department.

o Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the department team.

o Supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the outpatients process.

o Deputise and take charge of the given area regularly in the absence of the Sister / Charge Nurse who has 24 hour accountability and responsibility.

o Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.

o Actively contribute to the improvement of services and the quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.

o Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.

Job responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse NMC Pin Has band 5 registered nurse experience for 2 or more years

Desirable

Has successfully completed an NMC approved teaching and Assessing or Practice Assessor programme

Communication

Essential

Ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal skills and relationships with colleagues across health care settings

Desirable

Demonstrates understanding of clinical risk management in the NHS

Experience

Essential

Able to identify own learning needs Demonstrates knowldge of professional and NHS local and national nursing strategies and priorities

Desirable

Experience of nursing within a surgical specialty would be desirable
