Are you an HR Administrator looking to progress your HR career? Due to an internal promotion, Howdens has an excellent opportunity for you to join us as an HR Administrator based within our Croxley Park, Hertfordshire office.

We're looking for an experienced HR Administrator who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Working in a busy, supportive team (we process in excess of 1,000 transactions each month), you will provide a first-class administration service to our managers, ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately.

This is a full-time, permanent position working from Monday to Friday with alternate weeks shift patterns: 8 am-4 pm and 9.30 am to 5.30 pm, with some home working.


What will I be doing as an HR Administrator?

  • Offering expert HR advice and HR Systems advice and guidance to our managers.
  • Managing a busy HR mailbox and processing incoming correspondence.
  • Accurately maintaining the department's paperless document management system.
  • Producing reports from the HR system using formulas and VLOOKUP in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ensuring legal compliancy for all processing including GDPR.
  • Escalating or referring complex issues and cases when needed.
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure that queries are quickly addressed.
  • Working with colleagues to maintain the background information on the department system.
  • Providing support to other team members when needed.
  • Taking responsibility for your own work including your levels of accuracy and output.

What do I need to qualify for this HR Administrator role?

  • Previous experience working in a fastpaced environment (that can be highly pressured during certain times in the month and year), ideally within an HR department.
  • Excellent IT skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Possess excellent customer service skills and want to deliver great service to our managers.
  • Highly organised with an extremely high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team player with a flexible attitude in order to quickly respond to changing priorities.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload and process high volumes of data.
  • An excellent communicator who enjoys speaking to people on the telephone.
  • Excellent letterwriting skills.
