Hedge Fund Operations Manager (Remote - must have good Excel & NAV's experience)

Equifind is representing a small and boutique Mayfair based Hedge Fund with global offices, to hire an Operations Manager.

The role reports into their COO and is fully remote.

Our client has offices in America, Europe and also in London, but these offices are made up of Front Office traders/ Fund Managers.


The purpose of the Investment Operations Manager, within this Hedge Fund, is to manage all aspects of the post investment lifecycle activities including; supporting the UK and US Investment teams with trade processing, matching, confirmation, reconciliationqueries internally and externally with the company's outsource provider relationships (RBC and Morgan Stanley).

The Hedge Fund Middle Office Trade Support team in London is small, (The Operations) Manager and the COO. The company operate a full outsourced model and relies heavily upon outsourced Operations support from two major Prime Brokers.

Our client trades multi-asset class/ multi-strategy Funds, covering global Equities, Fixed Income, FX, OTC & ETD Derivatives.

Having previous working knowledge of Bloomberg AIM is highly advantageous, but not essential.

However, our client is looking for either a strong Buyside Operations Manager, or Senior Operations Analyst, or even a Fund Accountant who has a good working knowledgeof NAV's/ Valuations and Excel.

In essence, the fund sends a daily NAV report to their Prime Brokers. NAV and trade data is gained from various sources, but mainly from Bloomberg AIM. Our clients' needs someone with strong working knowledge of Excel i.e.

advanced level of Excel using PivotTables, V Lookup's and someone who is able to use Excel to understand what has gone wrong with the NAV, with the view of resolving.

This is key and the Front Office needs the Operations Manager in full control of the NAV process.


The fund is growing, so there is a lot of related project work and you need to be able to get used to a role that heavily involves inter-company communication via Teams.


The COO likes to meet in Central London once per week, or bi-weekly to work together and also socialise i.e.

to go lunch etc, just to keep a human element to the job.

Our client is looking for either an immediate start, or on a 1-month notice period at the max.

Responsibilities include:

  • Complete daily Fund (position, cash, P&L) reconciliation between Outsource
Suppliers and internal trading platforms

  • Develop and maintain the approval framework (new markets, instruments and
counterparties)

  • Maintain the operations element of the Risk Management Control Framework for
Operations i.e. maintain procedures, checklists

  • Interact and liaise with all company departments i.e. Compliance, Finance, IT, Marketing
& Distribution & HR

  • Addressing any issues that arise with Operations
  • Assisting and supporting CEO, CIO and COO on strategic Operational matters
  • Support the Compliance Officer with UK regulatory change
  • Support the COO/CRO with Change Management & Outsource Provider
Relationships

  • Support the Head of Marketing & Distribution as required i.e. onboarding clients.
Due Diligence Questionnaire

  • Liaise with the Head of IT that all processes and systems are functioning correctly,
efficiently and effectively

Duties will include:

Planning/Management:

  • Develop the company's daily operational procedures and processes
  • Provide timely and accurate operational outputs
  • Develop operational measures that support the company's strategic directions
  • Oversee all daily Outsource Provider outputs align with contractual, (SLA) and (KPIs) measures

Risk Management:

  • Provide strategic operational input on decision making issues affecting the company's
operational risk framework

  • Assist the COO on any operational perspective on any contracts into which the
corporation may enter.

  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's Risk Management Control
Framework

  • Develop and monitor reliable operational internal control systems, including
segregation of duties where possible and detailed reviews of all post investment
activities

  • Ensure that the company complies with all operational and where applicable
regulatory requirements (FCA UK regulations)

  • Ensure that EZE and Bloomberg AIM records are up to date daily, manage and
resolve any related exceptions

  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their operational findings and
recommendations

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have years Investment Operations
experience, be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Advanced Excel skills (Formula's Look up/ Pivot tables)
  • A minimum of 10+ years related experience.
  • Able to maintain positive composure and consistently demonstrate professional
appearance, image, demeanour, as a representative of the company.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and
make recommendations to increase efficiency.

  • Exceptional time management and creativity with the ability to analyze workflow,
demonstrate a sense of urgency, and set priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to calculate figures, amounts, ratios, formulas, compute interest, discounts,
fees, etc.

  • Ability to effectively handle and maintain confidential matters and information in a
trustworthy manner.

  • Must be a responsive selfstarter who is selfmotivated with the ability to produce
results, meet all established goals, objectives, and expectations.

  • Proactive approach, team player with high ethics
    Language Skills:
  • Must have an excellent ability to write reports, business correspondence and
procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other
executives and third-party organizations.

Salary
£70,000 (possibly up to £80k pa) plus bonus, pension, healthcare etc.
