Talent Lead

Start Date: 1 September 2023 or as soon as possible

Salary:
Annually (Actual) Up to £65,000 dependant on Experience, plus excellent benefits

Haberdashers' Elstree Schools are part of the eleven schools of the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers.

We share a rich history, tracing our roots back to the 17th Century when we established the principles that guide us to this day - we give talented and ambitious young people, irrespective of background, the opportunities they need to succeed in life.

Our priority is the education of the whole person in a truly exceptional learning environment with outstanding facilities.

Our professional services staff play a vital role in the delivery of high quality academic and pastoral care for each and every student.

Following the appointment last Autumn of our first Director of People, in addition to the advancement of our current Head of HR to Director of HR at another leading independent school, we are seeking to appoint two ambitious and experienced change agents to the senior people team, within a new People Structure.

The new Talent & People Development Lead and Employee Relations and People Operations Manager will support the Director in the development and delivery of the Habs Elstree's strategic People Plan.

The ambitious Habs Elstree 10-year strategy looks to the future, to 2030, where the needs and realities of the world will be significantly different, thereby requiring a very different offering and ambition for our students which requires a significant shift in foci, skills and culture for our staff.

We recognise our people are our biggest asset, as well as our biggest opportunity, to create the culture, opportunity, and environment for our pupils to realise their limitless potential.

As part of the Habs and wider community we evolve, and we grow, and together we create profound impact.

Reporting to the Director of People these senior roles will collectively provide tactical leadership for our people services across the schools.

Individually, you will lead your centre of excellence, and your team, to contribute to the Habs Elstree strategy developing and implementing an approach that aligns Habs people to the overall Habs Elstree Strategy, vision, mission and values.

You will drive the implementation of relevant strategic people goals through detailed project planning and the management and delivery of agreed targets.

Overall, you will be committed to the success of all Habs Elstree people and be fully engaged with them and our wider community driving our goal of being the best place to learn and work.

We are therefore looking to recruit a creative and ambitious
Talent & People Development Lead on a permanent basis.

As the Talent & People Development Lead you will play a critical role in our People team within HABS Elstree ensuring the function delivers high quality collaborative support to the schools.

The postholder will lead on a multifaceted talent acquisition/ management and development approach for the organisation.

The individual will need to lead a team as well as being hands on in order to lead the organisation through all initiatives and developments directly related to the role's specialism.

The post-holder will work closely with the Director of People, the Senior Leadership Team and the People Operations & Employee Relations Manager and across both schools in order to ensure the TA, M&D strategy continually aligns with the needs, vision and values of the organisation.

Create, implement and deliver the multifaceted Talent (Workforce Plan and Organisational Design); Talent Development Plan, Talent Acquisition Plan, Communication Plan, Talent Microsite and Succession Plan, leading on the Annual Plan, achieving buy-in from SLT and Managers, in order to develop organisational stability, a consistent message and develop both succession and retention of employees.

Manage the TD&I annual budget, including reforecasts and planning, with a focus on ROI, to support with financial sustainability.

Create, implement and deliver an L&D offer for Habs Elstree, actively seek feedback and implement improvement plans to develop a robust L&D offer ensuring it supports the organisations commitment to staff development and maximises opportunities.

Lead and influence the EDI&B agenda, in collaboration with Director of People and Culture, SLT & external stakeholders to ensure Habs Elstree is acting within Best Practice and legislative guidelines.
