Learning and Development Manager

Location: Borehamwood

Salary: Up to £70,000 + excellent bonus + benefits package

Reporting to: HR Director

Capstone have partnered with a leading, international storage solutions provider, who are seeking an exceptional Learning & Development Manager to take overall responsibility for designing and implementing key learning and development initiatives at all levels across the organisation, primarily focused on customer facing colleagues. They are required to identify and deliver a forward-thinking, efficient and effective learning and development agenda, which achieves the following:

  • Provides sales colleagues with the skills and competencies required to perform at their best;
  • Designs, implements, and oversees leadership and management development programmes and interventions that support business objectives and business performance requirements.
  • Develops business leaders to deliver strategic priorities; and
  • Ensures legislative and regulatory requirements are met.

The L&D Manager is the "go-to person" to provide expert advice on learning and development interventions at an individual, team and organisational level. This will be achieved through strong interpersonal skills, a high commercial understanding of the business model and high visibility across the store portfolio. The individual will play a key role as a member of the senior HR leadership team of a FTSE 250 business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees the L&D strategy, responsible for delivering hard skills training and soft skills learning and development activities which align with strategic priorities
  • Creating and delivering high quality, effective and efficient learning solutions which meet business needs and focus on return on investment
  • Equipping our sales professionals to maintain their industry leading performance, driving year on-year KPI improvement, enabling and empowering them to achieve accelerated business growth
  • Creates and delivers the talent agenda by identifying individual performance and developing the existing talent pool in order to deliver business results, maximise internal progression and retain high potential people
  • Partnering with business leaders in order to design evidence based, commercially driven solutions that are blended, engaging and interactive
  • Identifying skills gaps and future learning requirements
  • Maintaining and updating existing learning programmes, including e-learning, ensuring they are fit for purpose and effective
  • Delivering training and workshop sessions, including coordinating the logistics of these

Experience & skills required

  • Relevant qualification in Learning and Development, with evidence of continuous professional development
  • Chartered membership of CIPD or equivalent preferred
  • Experience of working in a multi-site retail or sales environment would be extremely beneficial
  • Experience in working at different levels from strategic to hands-on delivery.
  • Experience of challenging and changing existing learning and development practices to improve the learner experience and use of resources.
  • Designing & delivering blended learning and development solutions to meet business priorities
  • Strong coaching skills
  • Able to demonstrate the effectiveness and return on investment of learning and development initiatives
  • Highly collaborative and able to partner with multiple senior stakeholders. Detail oriented and able to lead, manage and coordinate several priorities
  • An excellent written communicator with the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate training materials
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally including overnight stays
  • Full UK driving license
