We have an exciting opportunity for a Fire Risk Technician to support the Head of Safety's action plan and assist the Fire Risk Assessor in addressing fire risk actions resulting from official assessments. The role involves carrying out remedial actions, updating systems for accurate reporting, and guiding contractor actions to completion by the relevant teams.

Freebridge Community Housing stands as the primary housing provider in West Norfolk, established in 2006 to receive homes transferred from the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Presently, we oversee approximately 7,000 homes throughout West Norfolk, benefiting thousands of customers across nearly 550 square miles. With an annual turnover of £30m and a workforce exceeding 200 employees, including our dedicated Property Services team, we have accomplished numerous milestones over the past 14 years, such as fulfilling commitments to tenants and elevating homes to the Decent Homes Standard, enhancing our customers' quality of life.

This position is a 1-year fixed-term contract for a Fire Risk Technician, with the potential for advancement to a Fire Risk Assessor after the initial 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Safety in completing all actions arising from external fire risk assessments
  • Review current fire risk assessments for residential and non-residential buildings, ensuring all actions are verified as completed and updating relevant recording systems
  • Promptly report instances of non-compliance identified during assessments
  • Develop and maintain fire evacuation plans for FCH properties falling under the 'fire safety' order 2005
  • Maintain up-to-date fire safety knowledge, staying informed on legislative changes, compliance requirements, and emerging fire safety trends
  • Create fire safety guidance for tenants and colleagues

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated track record of staying informed on fire regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Proficiency in using ICT systems for work and outcome documentation
  • Customer-centric approach, ensuring service levels align with established standards
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of producing impactful reports
  • Results-oriented mindset with robust analytical abilities
  • Experience in conducting fire risk surveys and identifying non-compliance with legislation and best practices is advantageous
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle
