You will work within ward and community teams, working with patients with various needs providing direct patient care. Excellent communication skills and a supportive approach to team working within the various clinical settings are key. Demonstrating the ability to working within the Trust behavioural framework will be essential to the role.


You will have the ability to manage your own learning supported by the allocated supervisors, Clinical Education Team and Talent for Care team in order to gain new knowledge and skills to benefit them and the service.

This is a great opportunity to learn while working in an area with patients with various care needs.

Good interpersonal skills are essential as well as the ability to balance academic studies and the work in practice.

  • Assist with patient hygiene needs; including toileting, nail care and oral care.
  • Be able to provide appropriate equipment for toileting, mobility aids to support activity and utensils to support food intake.
  • Supporting staff to undertake blood glucose monitoring; skin assessments; frailty and falls screening and malnutrition reviews.
  • Undertake observational monitoring, including Temperature; Pulse; Respirations; Blood Pressure measurement, oxygen saturations, urinalysis and Sepsis screening as appropriate. This may also include neurological observations and other monitoring within the clinical setting, which supports the Trust's ability to identify those patients at risk of deterioration.
  • Managing challenging behavior, including dementia, distressed patients or others within the care environment.
  • Other potential skills include, undertaking phlebotomy procedures; undertaking Electrocardiogram recordings.
  • Skills appropriate to the placement area may include, End of life care, Dementia care; and principles of wound management.
