Specialist Auditory Implant Audiologist

The Auditory Implant Programme in Oxford is expanding and we are looking for a 0.9WTE Band 6 audiologist to specialise in Bone Anchored Hearing solutions and Middle Ear Implants.

The Oxford Auditory Implant Programme provides an assessment, surgical, fitting and follow up service for adults and children in the region who cannot wear or do not gain adequate benefit from standard hearing aids.


The role primarily involves carrying out assessments of suitability for BAHAs and Middle Ear Implants, together with the fitting and programming of these devices, for predominantly adult patients.

Full training will be provided and opportunities for some paediatric work is possible. You will be expected to contribute to service development, evaluation, audit, and research.

You will work as part of a team dedicated to quality and effective patient care and be responsible for the adult bone anchored follow-up service.

You would be joining a large team comprising Audiologists, Assistant Audiologists, Clinical Scientists (Audiology), Hearing Therapists and administrative colleagues.

There is also an in-house CPD programme and all colleagues are encouraged to take advantage of training and development opportunities within the Trust and beyond.

All members of the team are involved in service development as we work towards IQIPS accreditation.


Applicants should have an MSc in Audiology with CAC / HTS, or STP in Neurosciences (Audiology modality) or have a BSc in Audiology / PTP Healthcare Science (Audiology) with evidence of further training / qualifications in Audiology.

You will be an Audiologist or a Clinical Scientist (Audiology) registered with the Academy of Healthcare Science or the Health and Care Professions Council (registered as a Clinical Scientist).


The post will involve remote working on average for 1 day per week (once fully trained) and the post holder must be able to work Monday, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Flexible hours and working patterns may be accommodated beyond this.

Delivery of a high quality adult bone anchored and middle ear implant service.
