Cancer Prehabilitation Technical Instructor

You will be part of the newly formed cancer prehabilitation team and you will be working with a range of healthcare professionals including a physiotherapist, dietitian and psychologist.

You will be supporting cancer patients to become more physically active before and after cancer treatment or surgery, in order to help to optimise the patient's recovery.

You will also encourage long-term behaviour change and support initiatives to encourage patients to live well after a cancer diagnosis at any stage of the cancer pathway.


  • To provide evidencebased personalised advice, information and support based on assessment and patient choice to support patients to become more physically active. This will involve devising individual patient care plans including screening, onward referral to the dietitian/psychologist, information delivering, goal setting, and identification of barriers, and plans for monitoring.
  • To supervise group physical activity programmes in the local gym for patients with a cancer diagnosis awaiting cancer treatment (prehabilitation), or following treatment (rehabilitation).
  • To promote the physical activity programme in health promotion workshops to encourage patients to live well after a cancer diagnosis.
  • To assist in the administration and clerical duties of the cancer prehabilitation/rehabilitation service and manage the referral process.
