The post can be either full time (preferably) or part time (30 hours per week minimum) and work is allocated in proportion to the number of hours worked.
The post will deal exclusively with GP Practice clients (Doctors Surgeries) all of whom are part of the National Health Service.
In the absence of the above experience the post holder will be designated as aPayroll Officer in Training and will need to demonstrate an excellent grasp of math and the ability to work to strict deadlines.
A successful applicant who can demonstrate that they could develop the necessary skills required will receive full training, which will be given on a "one to one" basis by a trained member of the Fairway Training team.
Upon completion of the training and the post holder's ability to demonstrate an improvement in their knowledge and experience, as part of the appraisal process the post holder may be considered for a promotion to Payroll Officer.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Processing of an appropriate number of payrolls each month consummate with the number of hours worked:
- To calculate Gross to Net pay calculations for Clients, including
- Processing the payroll to 'Updated' stage
- Issuing of reports to clients
- Running of payroll reports
- Making corrections when necessary via 'Rollbacks' etc.
- Real Time Information procedures such as FPS and EPS submission
- New employee procedures (P45s/ HMRC Starter checklists etc.)
- Leaver procedures
- National Insurance regulations
- Other statutory payments such as SMP, SSP, SAP, SPP etc.
- Updating of records at year end
- Understanding main NHS Pension Scheme rules
- Processing retirement estimates of benefits
- Processing pension queries using Pensions Online (POL)
- Corresponding with both the Employer and Employee on action needed.
Ad Hoc Duties:
- Assisting with general office administration which may include: Telephone answering, opening post, dealing with general correspondence, contributing to monthly team meetings, general data input when required etc.
- Assisting the Payroll Manager and Supervisor with any office duties required.
- Once suitable experience has been gained potentially to assist in other office duties such as GP1 preparation, BACS team participation, Auto Enrolment procedures etc.
The Payroll Manager and the Managing Director reserve the right for the post holder to be allocated duties not detailed above but suitable for the post holder to deal with.
