Job summary

Come and work at the Bristol Eye Hospital, if you're new to the organisation you'll receive 27 days annual leave plus Bank holiday's on joining. This increases to 29 days and 33 days plus Bank holidays with longer service.

We're a medium sized team of 10 secretaries and two admin support staff. To support a team of senior medical secretaries to enable the provision of an efficient and effective secretarial service for the Ophthalmology Consultants, including and their wider multi-disciplinary teams. The Trust has key performance indicators in place which determines who quickly correspondence if delivered following a clinic consultation.

Facilitate delivery of internal referrals to the correct clinical team to avoid delay in continued treatment pathways.

Familiarity with the Trust's Access Policy and Referral to Treatment pathways (RTT).

Supporting the wider team with process of Medisoft correspondence following virtual or clinical visits.

Work distribution is managed by senior medical secretaries within each team.

Main duties of the job

Clinical noting dictations, completion of clinic letter via clinical noting system. You will need to be able to demonstrate experience in a secretarial environment.

Support of the senior medical secretary team with queries from patients and colleagues.

The Eye Hospital is a great place to work, it's small enough to be friendly and we're all on first names terms. We try to organise a hospital wide social event at least once a year and individual departments will organise separate events too.

The secretarial team is well supported by each other and their line managers. We have regular meetings and engage the whole when organisational changes are planned.

Qualifications and Training

Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths Business and Administration Level 3 NVQ or equivalent experience Qualified in word processing or audio typing (or equivalent)

Knowledge and Experience

Experience of dealing with the public, both on the telephone and in person
