Senior Gardener/Team Leader

We are looking for an experienced gardener to take on the role of Senior Gardener/Team Leader at a magnificent 200-acre private estate in Ascot, Berkshire. This is a great opportunity for a proactive and hands-on individual with a passion for gardening to join our team. You will work closely with the Head Gardener, overseeing day-to-day staff management and coordinating various garden projects and activities.

This position is ideal for someone with a background in private estates or prestigious public gardens, eager to expand their horticultural expertise and gain valuable leadership experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Plant procurement and garden administration
  • Maintaining herbaceous and mixed borders
  • Managing cut-flower production
  • Seasonal bulb and pot planting
  • Assisting with a new Alitex display greenhouse
  • Caring for cut flower borders, herbaceous borders, and The Potager
  • Planting autumn bulbs and handling half hardy and hardy annuals
  • Performing tasks such as deadheading, pruning, and rose garden maintenance

Required experience:

  • Minimum of three years' gardening experience
  • Knowledge of greenhouse, vegetables, and herbaceous plants is advantageous
  • Horticultural qualifications or relevant experience
  • Basic IT skills with proficiency in MS Office
