As a key member of our estate team, you will be responsible for managing a team of gardeners, overseeing garden improvements, and ensuring the highest standards of horticultural excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Garden Maintenance and Development
    • Oversee the maintenance and development of the estate's gardens, including the formal gardens, woodland, and wildflower meadow.
    • Implement seasonal maintenance plans and ensure the gardens are presented to the highest standards.
  • Team Management
    • Manage a team of 13 gardeners, providing guidance, training, and supervision to ensure the team is working efficiently and effectively.
    • Develop and implement staff training programs to enhance the team's skills and knowledge.
  • Project Management
    • Work with the Estate Manager to develop and implement projects to improve the estate's gardens and grounds.
    • Coordinate with external partners and specialist consultants to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards.
  • Administration and Budgeting
    • Develop and manage the annual garden budget in consultation with the estate accounts team.
    • Coordinate with the household team to ensure internal floral displays and plant maintenance are carried out to the highest standards.
  • Health and Safety
    • Ensure the estate's gardens and grounds are maintained in accordance with health and safety regulations.
    • Coordinate with the estate team to ensure best practices are followed at all times.
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of experience in a senior position at a private estate or public garden.
  • Comprehensive plant knowledge and woodland management experience.
  • Relevant horticultural qualifications and experience.
  • Operational knowledge and experience of garden machinery.
  • Intermediate level IT skills.
  • Full driving license.

  • A competitive salary of £50,000, plus discretionary bonus.
