Position Overview:
As a Credit Controller, you will play a vital role in maintaining healthy cash flow by ensuring the timely collection of outstanding debts from clients. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chase overdue invoices via telephone, email, and letter within agreed timescales.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to facilitate prompt payment.
- Negotiate payment plans and resolve queries both internally and externally around outstanding invoices.
- Conduct regular debtor reviews and provide accurate and timely reports to management.
- Monitor and maintain credit limits, ensuring they are appropriate and adhered to.
- Work closely with the sales and accounts receivable teams to resolve payment discrepancies and disputes.
- Identify and escalate potential credit risks to minimize bad debt exposure.
- Assist with month-end closing processes and contribute to the improvement of credit control procedures.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of credit control procedures and best practices.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with clients.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software (e.g. Bullhorn, Zero).
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
