Background
To create and contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range of activities within EPSRC-funded research project "Non-Ergodic Quantum Manipulation" (EP/R029075/1).
Role Summary
- To create and disseminate advanced knowledge in the field of disordered strongly correlated systems.
- Analyse and interpret research findings and results obtained by the project collaborators at UCL, University of Cambridge and RHUL.
- Contribute to generating funding and writing up further research proposals.
Main Duties
The responsibilities may include some but not all of the responsibilities outlined below.
- Participate in research activities of national/international repute at the interface of theoretical and experimental research in quantum transport in disordered lowdensity semiconductors and other system likely to exhibit nonergodic behaviour.
- Contribute to analysing and interpreting experimental information found by project collaborators in UCL, Cambridge and RHUL.
- Analyse and interpret the results of own research and generate ideas based on outcomes.
- Formulate and develop adequate simplified models for multielectron dynamics in the presence of strong disorder.
- Secure publications of research outpots in leading international journals.
- To provide expert advice and guidance to postgraduate students involved in the research project.
- Lead delivery of research that contributes to the progress of the discipline and sustain high quality research contributions through conference papers and presentations.
- Promote equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture.
Person Specification
- First degree and PhD (or near to completion) in theoretical condensed matter physics.
- High level analytical capability.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Fluency in analytical and numerical methods relevant for the area of manybody interacting and disordered systems, including systems in the Coulomb blockade regime.
- Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
- Contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme within the collaboration.
- Coordinate own work with other researchers to avoid conflict or duplication of effort. Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
