Job Introduction

Working directly with children, young people with autism and/or a learning disability and their families you will support the development of person-centred plans and help to navigate through the system to achieve positive outcomes.

You will develop good relationships with the young people and their families to understand their experiences and ensure that their voices are heard and represented.


You will work in collaboration with other professionals to ensure that children and young people have access to the right support at the right time, challenging any barriers that may arise.


You will be a consistent and first point of contact for the young people you support and provide emotional support if required.


You will contribute to the continuous development of the keyworking service by identifying gaps as well as sharing good practice to ensure that the service meets the needs of the children and young people.

You will work with Children on the Dynamic Support Register (DSR) and ensure actions are followed up following Care Education and Treatment Reviews (CETR) offering creative solutions.


You will report to the transforming care lead and will work with a small number of children and young people.

You will have direct line responsibility for 2 keyworkers providing mentoring, identifying staff development and prioritising allocations from the Dynamic support register (DSR).


You will use your expertise to ensure the effective development of the Dynamic support register as the primary referral mechanism for the keyworking service.


This is a unique role that allows you to work creatively and with an emphasis on person-centred approaches to work in collaboration with young people and their families to build on strengths and achieve positive outcomes.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Package Description

Brighton & Hove City Council is looking for a senior keyworker to join a new service within our 0-24 Specialist Community Disability Service and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of it.

Do you want to be part of a new and keyworking service as part of the NHS long term plan?

Do you want to support a service that will ensure that children and young people who have a diagnosis of autism and/or a learning disability with the most complex needs have the support of a designated keyworker?


If you are you passionate about driving change, making a real difference to the lives of children and young people with autism and/or a learning disability, committed to working alongside young people and their families to achieve positive person-centred outcomes then this could be the role for you and we'd like to hear from you.


The senior key worker role will enable CYP and their family/carers to get the right support at the right time and ensure local systems are responsive to meeting their needs in a holistic and joined up way.


The team will sit within the 0-24 Specialist Community Disability Service (SCDS) but will work closely with teams across education, health, social care and within the community.
