You'll take up this crucial role to join our Health, Safety and Quality team that works closely with colleagues throughout the organisation to provide sound and trusted safety advice.

The health and safety of those we work with is of the utmost importance.


You have a proven background within a health, safety and quality function with sound understanding of health and safety standards and statutory requirements.

You'll inspect workplaces to ensure compliance with south east water policies and procedures.

This will also include assisting with specialist risk assessments and supporting specific projects and continuous improvement programmes assigned by the Head of Department.

You'll monitor the HSQ mailbox to respond to requests, resolve issues and escalate incidents in a timely manner when appropriate.


Our water supply network spans a large network across the South East of England, including Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire.

Therefore, there will be some requirement to travel to attend meetings or to conduct site visits. Ideally, you'll have previous experience working with a geographically dispersed and remote workforce.

What will you be responsible for delivering?

  • To perform audits and inspections and keep records of findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • To complete risk assessments or give advice on the implementation of risk assessments and safe methods of operation, supporting employees and managers to conduct risk assessments.
  • To provide advice, support and guidance on all aspects of health, safety and welfare to managers
  • To work with the Organisational Development department to advice on the health and safety training, including researching appropriate training solutions and recommending training programmes to meet the needs of South East Water where necessary/required.
  • To attend health and safety committee meetings and provide advice as necessary.
  • To regularly review and update controlled Health and Safety documents and reviewing working processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborating in accident investigations and providing actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with contractors on Health, Safety and Wellbeing matter's ensuring compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Support HR where appropriate in relation to health (including mental and physical) and wellbeing of staff.
  • Deliver or support with adhoc projects as directed by the Head of Department

What do you bring to the role?

  • Previous experience working in a health, safety and quality function.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety standards and legal requirements.
  • NEBOSH certificate, First aid and fire warden training preferable.
  • Selfmotivated with attention to detail and the ability to persuade / influence others.
  • Good knowledge of MS office.
  • Experience of working with geographically dispersed and remote workforce
  • Full clean driver's licence.
