Information about the Role:

Working as an Activities Coordinator at Oaklands Care Home your duties will include the following:

  • To lead and encourage residents to join in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice, and dignity, to enable them to lead as full and active life as possible.
  • To create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, inside and outside of the home, for residents to enjoy.
  • To work with each new resident to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs to put together an individual social care plan and to evaluate regularly.
  • To engage the local community into the daily lives of residents by initiating contact with local community groups enabling residents to partake / continue with hobbies and interests as desired.

Set in mature surrounding on the outskirts of Garstang north of Preston, Oaklands Care Home is surrounded by roaming countryside providing the ideal location for the people we support to relax and enjoy the views.

Our care is resident focussed with each person we support being catered for individually so that they can lead a happy and fulfilling life doing the things they enjoy and accessing a wide range of activities.

With 30 bedrooms our purposely adapted home across 2 floors provides the perfect, safe environment for the people we support.

Oaklands supports adults with physical disability, learning disability or

long-term neurological conditions including:

  • Physical and neurological conditions
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Huntington's disease
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus
  • Stroke
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Acquired brain injuries
  • Motorneurone disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Speech impairment

Necessary Experience / Qualifications to work as an Activities Coordinator:

  • Someone who has a real passion for caring and helping people.
  • Ideally 6months experience as a Care Activities Coordinator or 1 year working as an experienced Support Worker/ Healthcare Assistant / Domiciliary Carer.
  • Must hold a UK driving licence
  • Ability to work on a shift/rota pattern.
  • Have the right to the work in the UK
