Working as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor on ABL's specialist and targeted weight management programme 'Your Health Oldham' you will be working with adults and/or families to support, motivate and advise thosewho are currently overweight or obese. You will be passionate about working with individuals to begin the life changing processes necessary for permanent and continued weight loss and weight maintenance.
You will understand challenges and barriers that adults and families face with relation to their health (both physical and mental) and wellbeing. You will engage with and build a good rapport with adults and families from varying communities across Oldham.
You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client centered. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, public health, community health or adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.
At ABL Health we don't believe in diets but promote long term sustainable change which focuses on evidence-based principles of healthy living.
Some of the essential criteria for the role:
- Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience.
- CIMSPA (previously REPS) qualified Level 2 Gym instructor/Group exercise award or equivalent
- Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly with people
- Excellent administration, record keeping and data collection skills
- IT literate, preferably with experience using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Must have a high attention to detail
- To be able to work as part of a team and independently as required
- The ability to travel independently across the organisational footprint
- Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need including evening and occasional weekend work as required
