We need someone who has a proven history in Transformation and also executing EDI (equality, diversity & inclusion) plans/ initiatives.


The company HR is a service driven function of approximately 120 HR professionals, working closely alongside our eleven academic faculties and our nine professional services divisions to understand and collaborate on their priorities, opportunities and challenges.

The HR Business Partnering Team supports the development and implementation of people strategies to over 14,000 staff across three Schools and Professional Services, comprising academic, clinical, research, teaching and faculty/central professional services staff.


The organisation is undergoing a period of significant change across both its academic faculties and professional services functions and the HR Business Partnering team will need to be at the forefront of the change, partnering with key stakeholders, Institute Managers, Directors of Operations and Deans to deliver for the organisation and to ensure the organisation is best placed to deliver on its strategy over the next 5 years.


We are looking for experienced HR professionals, confident in organisational change, aspects of organisational design with excellent generalist HR and influencing skills including the ability to demonstrate tenacity and impact.


Experience required:

  • Significant level of expertise acquired in a relevant senior HR role(s) in a complex organisation.
  • Experience of supporting the development and implementation of workforce planning, succession planning and talent management strategies.
  • Evidence working with EDI strategies.
  • Experience of/ability to successfully build trusted and sustained relationships with stakeholders/clients and colleagues.
  • Experience of working with highly collaborative teams in a fairly autonomous role.

Desirable:

  • Post graduate HR qualification/CIPD Chartered Member or Fellow.
  • Indepth knowledge of terms and conditions relating to medical and other clinical roles e.g. in the NHS or with another University's Medical School.
  • Worked effectively in a matrix structure organisation.
  • Experience of managing aspects of transformational change programmes in public sector, unionised organisations.

  • Ability to influence at a senior level.
  • Ability to advise and coach managers on complex people issues.
  • Ability to be tenacious and resilient in the face of challenge and disagreement.
  • Sound judgement and the confidence to make the big calls.
  • Comfortable with a level of ambiguity and risk.
  • Able to work collaboratively crossdepartment/ faculty/ university.
  • Highly numerate and able to understand complex data and draw out actionable insight.
  • Having a clear commitment to leadership and people, setting a positive and emotionally intelligent example that motivates others to follow.
  • Acting to ensure productivity and resultsorientation in the team.
  • Empowering others through promoting a culture of trust.
