Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge of the overall process for developing products. This includes knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of engineering and other functions, major phases, checkpoints, and deliverables. This also includes the ability to identify common issues and considerations for delivering a product.

Ability to influence and inspire an audience by crafting stories using data that elicit empathy or create buy-in.

Ability to craft intuitive user-facing language, effective information hierarchy, and scalable frameworks that appeal to and guide a diverse global audience while also adapting to the needs, voice, tone, and constraints of the product at hand.

Ability to define, design, and create content-focused user experiences, such as frameworks and patterns that help content scale, ensure quality, and deliver information for specific user needs and markets.

Ability to contextually structure, organize, and disclose information in a way that helps users navigate through a complex task or discover the information they are looking for.

Ability to make design decisions that increase intuitive use and comprehension, which may be based on relevant research, trends, and the appropriate application of the company's brand and voice.

Ability to make design decisions that result in a coherent product, platform, or user experience, including the ability to question and assess execution, craft, longevity, and scale of designs.

Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of users and their goals with regards to the problem being solved. This includes the knowledge of how user behavior informs product design and development.

Knowledge of the changing landscape of the industry, product areas, other key players, and/or markets, which may include technology trends and issues that affect how users interact with software systems.

Ability to prepare effective presentations in content and function, and to speak competently to the level of the audience.

Knowledge of product design principles and user-centric processes.

Knowledge of principles and methods for defining and measuring UX, and the ability to adapt UX research methods to the appropriate user interface and platform.

Ability to analyze situations or problems at the system level or from a broader technical or organizational perspective. This includes the ability to consider how factors or components in a system interrelate and work over time within the context of larger systems.

Ability to analyze information, draw conclusions, generate alternatives and solutions, and evaluate outcomes. This includes the ability to use data to add value to business planning and strategies.

Responsibilities:

Analyze or anticipate user needs, pain points, or gaps in comprehension and collaborate with others to solve constraints in strategy, product, or technology.

Use and propose key data and metrics to evaluate product impact, such as user engagement, comprehension, and task completion. Understand the product ecosystem, user trends, and industry (e.g., competitors), taking them into account when developing principles, patterns, and frameworks.

Collaborate with product managers, team members and other cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., marketing, legal, engineering) to align and communicate for and communicate a product narrative, vision, mission, or principles.

Scope and prioritize work across projects to balance tactical and strategic efforts. Negotiate and communicate priorities with team members and stakeholders. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure product strategy (e.g OKRs, PRDs) maintains a focus on users and Product Excellence, including localization and accessibility. Delegate when appropriate, and identify and act on opportunities to expand responsibilities within the immediate team or project.

Build consensus and gain support for high-quality user experiences by anticipating challenges and questions and communicating principled and well-reasoned or data-driven UX writing and content design choices. Understand and advocate for all aspects of UX (UXW, UXD, UXR, UXE, UX P&OPgM) as essential to the product lifecycle.

Establish and improve holistic UX writing and content design processes, systems, frameworks or patterns across teams or products. Develop and generate support for a design vision with partners, stakeholders, and leadership.

Create concepts (e.g., mock-ups, prototypes, variants, frameworks, taxonomies, messaging) for user research/testing, partner with UX researchers or conduct research independently to inform UX writing and content design, and seek research insights to drive appropriate design direction.

Create UX writing and content design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry trends. Partner with stakeholders to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), influence long-term product direction, and generate business impact through UX writing and content design expertise, user-cantered thinking, strategy, and vision.

Develop innovative UX writing and content design solutions to user, product, and business problems, adapt to evolving constraints and communicate rationale. Partner cross-functionally to create deliverables, including guidelines, localization and accessibility documentation, context-based writing variants, and content frameworks.

Apply, adapt, or evolve UX writing and content design frameworks for user experiences, including principles, patterns, and systems. Leverage writing and design tools to visualize ideas or develop mock-ups. Tailor deliverables to product or platform requirements.

Iteratively improve UX writing and content design based on UX testing and stakeholder input.
